Original WW2 German ReichsdienstState Service Flag Wool 6'x10'
This is a 100% original German Reichsdienstflagge [State Service Flag], flown from government buildings, railway stations, and other "state-run" enterprises. This nice wool example measures approx. 6' x 10' (a few inches over 10') overall. Shows age and legitimate use, plus just a few scattered moth holes.
Note the two repairs - period-done with perfectly-matching woven wool fabric and actually done at two different times. The "L"-shaped tear was patched with hand and machine-stitched white thread. The Fly end of the Flag was repaired with hand-stitched red thread and machine-stitched black thread. For me, the repairs impart a unique "been there" history to it. (Anyone out there agree?) Also note, on the reverse side of the flag, there are spots where some of the black ink didn't take very well - the effect does not carry through at all to the 'good side' of the Flag.
This vet brought back four flags, all listed here.
