WW2 German Arbeitsbuch Early Version - Auto Mechanic
This is a nice example of a WW2 German Arbeitsbuch issued to Ulrich Schneider, Motorinschlosser (Engine Mechanic), Born 1913, certified in his trade in 1933. Married, with one child born in 1941. Unusual notation that he suffered a "33 1/3% eye injury".
The Arbeitsbuch was a mandatory official personal document recording the employment status of an individual over time. It became essential in wartime and had to be constantly produced for police, who were on the lookout for vagrants, shirkers, deserters and spies. This particular example is in the less-encountered early style, produced prior to the nazified version with swastika designs on the cover and every page.
