War Department Telegram - Wounded WIA Italy 9-22-1944 + Clipping

$85.00

This is a nice and very scarce scrapbook page which contains a War Department WIA telegram plus a newspaper clipping for the same soldier. Scrapbook page is 11 7/8" x 14", with Telegram pasted in along it's top edge. October 8th, 1944 Telegram reads in part "... REGRET TO INFORM YOU YOUR SON STAFF SEREGEANT JOHN C. STEMMER WAS SLIGHTLY WOUNDED IN ACTION TWENTY SEPTEMBER IN ITALY. YOU WILL BE ADVISED AS REPORTS OF CONDITION ARE RECEIVED ...". Newspaper clipping on the same page with heading "Jack Stemmer Wounded Again - Injured Second Time in Italian Campaign".

Last few photos show some additional pages from the same Scrapbook Albums. All clippings and telegrams relate to residents of Elkader, Iowa serving in the military. It is believed to have been assembled by employees of the local Telegraph Office, possibly using file copies? of official Telegrams (as the telegram was never folded to be placed in a delivery envelope). One page, sold previously, had a KIA Telegram and written in ink below it was "My dad was with me when I delivered this."

Ships Flat - LIFETIME GUARANTEE OF AUTHENTICITY ON THIS DOCUMENT GROUPING.
