U.S. .30 Caliber M1 Linked Ammunition Belt 1943 DateT
This is a "Battlefield Pickup" belt of linked M1 .30 Caliber spent cartridges, all dated 1943. The use of linked ammo in WW2 was limited to ammunition loaded for use in naval aircraft, until very late in the war when ammunition loaded in armor piercing, armor piercing incendiary and armor piercing incendiary tracers were issued to armored and ground forces. Almost all linked ammo found today dates from the Korean War or later (and is almost invariably expended blanks). Rare to see a "been there" WW2-era Linked Belt.
