Huge Hand-carved Statue of Buddhist Spirit God Garuda 30"
$185.00
This is a great big hand-carved polychromed statue of Garuda - a half-man, half-eagle creature in the Hindu, Buddhist and Jain faiths (this is the Buddhist version, brought back from Southeast Asia by a Vietnam War vet).
Garuda is a swift and ever-vigilant winged protector, and a sworn enemy of the snake-people. As such, a statue of Garuda is often displayed as a charm to ward off poisonous snakes in regions of the world where that remains a problem.
Statue is 30" tall overall and weighs over 8 pounds. It is four pieces - Garuda's Body, two Wings and the tall Tail Feather. The tips of the Feathering is dogeared in places (pictured) and the Tail Feather pieces has split ion half and been re-glued (also pictured).
