Japanese Samurai Sword Soft Metal Presentation Tsuba

This is a nice soft metal Tsuba expertly-carved in the Katakiri-Bori technique which simulates Japanese brushwork art. The design is creatures reputed to live extremely long lives - the Crane, the Tortoise - and Gods of good fortune, such as Ebisu with his fishing pole and catch.

The metal is copper, and the piece measures 58 mm wide x 65 mm tall x 5 mm thick.

This Tsuba has never been mounted, and ones with design themes like this were often given as gifts on an auspicious occasion, such as a Samurai's 70th birthday.
