SOLD - This is a nice EK1, Iron Cross 1st Class, 3-piece construction, with a magnetic center. Maker-marked on the back L15. These were thought to be original, until fairly recent research revealed them to be very early post-war reproductions. I found this passage on the Internet:

"Otto Schickle marked their crosses L/15 not L15. It was thought until recently that these crosses were made by Friedrich Orth hence the L15 mark. However, according to the EKI book by George Stimson and Dietrich Maerz who apparently uncovered the information, all crosses marked L15 and thought to be Orth are post war reproductions as are Souval made crosses marked the same way."
