This is a WW2-era Russian Entrenching Tool with a definite "been there" look. The 1943 date is difficult to photograph (see photos). The tip was modified from a spade (straight) edge to a pointed edge, to fit the German-style leather holder. I think the 1943 date was hammered on at the same time.
