This is a nice example of the AN-H-15 Lightweight/Summer Flying Helmet introduced on April 23, 1943, by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) and U.S. Navy as the first joint Army/Navy effort to procure aviation headwear. This particular example is made by Slote & Klein, and is a really hard-to-find Size Extra Large.
Note: The leather Chinstrap broke at the snap AFTER I took the photos. The last two photos have been added to show the repair I had done by a friend who restores old leatherbound books. She did a great job, but I wanted you to be aware of both the repair, and the fact that the leather around it is probably also waek and needs to be handled carefully.
