This is a scarce US Army Mess Kit commonly depicted on the Internet as issued during the Spanish American War, but was actually a very early WW1 "Emergency Issue" item due to lack of inventory. As they were ordered from commercial suppliers in a hurry, the early versions were not "U.S." marked. Does have a few rust spots which would likely come if with a product like Evaporust, but I leave that to the new owner. While the lid fits well, it tends to warp a bit when the handle is folded down (see last photo).
